Robert Bishop

Robert Bishop is chairman and chief executive officer of SGI. He joined the company in 1986 as president of SGI's World Trade Corporation, and was responsible for building its international division. He joined SGI's board of directors in 1993, and continued as an active member of the company's senior management team until 1995.

Prior to joining SGI, Bishop held senior executive positions with Apollo Computer, Inc. from 1982 to 1986 and Digital Equipment Corporation from 1968 to 1982. He has been an Invited Professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne, Entrepreneurship and Innovation; an Adjunct Professor at the Stockholm School of Economics; a lecturer at Universität St. Gallen, Wirtschafts und Technologie; and a speaker at Université de Genève, Hautes Etudes Commerciales.

Bishop is an elected member of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences. He also currently serves as a member of the Industry Advisory Commission, World Intellectual Property Organization, the Governors of the World Economic Forum for Information Technologies and of International Advisory Panel, Multimedia Super Corridor, Malaysia.

He earned a B.Sc. (First Class Honors) in Mathematical Physics from the University of Adelaide, Australia, and a M.Sc. from the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University.
