Michael A. Brown
Quantum Corp.
 

During Brown’s tenure, Quantum has achieved record sales and profits, become the world's largest supplier of hard drives for personal computers, and been recognized as one of Fortune magazine's fastest growing American companies.

Brown joined Quantum in 1984 and held various marketing positions until 1989 when he became director of product marketing. In 1990 Brown was promoted to vice president of marketing. He became executive vice president responsible for the company's hard drive business in 1992 and chief operating officer in 1993.

When Quantum formed divisions in 1993, Brown was named president of the Desktop and Portable Storage Group (DPSG), which develops and markets products for the personal computer market. Under Brown's leadership, DPSG grew from a run rate of approximately $1 billion to more than $3 billion. He was promoted to chief executive officer in September 1995.

Before joining Quantum, Brown served two years as a research associate at Braxton Associates, a strategic planning consulting firm.

Brown holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Harvard University and a master's of business administration degree from Stanford University.
